I have to be honest, I’m not impressed. Please look at my photos. I thought there would be suggestions or guidelines on HOW to draw all the items in this book. Instead, there are sketches of each transportation vehicle, and each drawing seems kind of hard to replicate on your own. Also, some pages give you tons of room to draw, some only give you a few small spots. I don’t understand why there isn’t more room to draw on some spreads. I bought this for my 10-year old son. I’ll update my review after he receives the book. Perhaps this book is better suited for older kids who already have a knack for drawing. Or maybe it’s for adults. One thing for sure, unless it’s a hit with my son, i won’t be buying any of the others in this series.PS... one of the modes of transport is a stroller. Others include skis. Carriages. Four wheelers. Unicycles. Rockets. Semis. Subs. Motorcycles. Rickshaws. Biplanes. Motorboats. Shoes. I wish I had known some of this before purchasing.
I had checked out this book at the library and liked it. It provides good practice of drawing various types of vehicles and planes and bikes. I wanted to get better at drawing these things for my urban sketching hobby and it really helps me. If you are looking for a step by step type drawing book, this isn't it. I really am glad about that because I have developed my own methods of copying or drawing. If you are looking for sophisticated drawings of these things, this won't be your book either. However, if you just want practice being able to do basic drawings and sketches of these things fairly quickly, I highly recommend this book. I think kids who have had some drawing experience would like this book too.
I have three '20 Ways' books. I use them to break though 'Artist's Block' periods. But especially for the '20 Ways to Draw a Bike', many of the examples aren't drawn very well. For someone who believes that they cannot even draw a stick figure, these books can be helpful. But for someone with even basic drawing skills, you'd be better off using one of the images as a jump-off point, going to Google Images, and finding a better representation there.
never liked the classic drawing books where you draw an oval, then add another oval, and then, voila, a frog appears. this book is totally different. it includes piles of simple line drawings with all different styles. in the process of looking through them, sketching them, coloring them in, whatever, you learn to draw. i really love this book. it's the first time i really felt like i could draw. great for all ages, too.
This is a great book to have out in the art classroom on my "bonus" table. (That's where kids go if they've finished their project and have free time.) Boys are definitely drawn to it and really enjoy copying the pictures and learning to draw things that Go. I like it as well. It does a great job of breaking down complicated objects and showing the key elements that the object is comprised of. Best of all, the illustrations are fun.
